For my first piece in my sustained investigation, I wished to dive into the world of self inflicted wounds. In this sculpture, I am depicting a female figure who just shot herself in the forehead. I had her eyebrows and eyes slat in a way that would draw the eyes directly to the hole. I gave heer eyes a lifeless appearance due to the dehumanization of those who commit suicide. Her expression is shock, but not fear. I used red against a more pale skin tone, to emphasize the wound. I used a real bullet coming out of the back of her head to show that the injury just happened milliseconds ago. Her hair is curled and erratic, representing her mental space at the time of her death. A wood block was used as a base just for support and stability.
