For my Totem Pole project, I wanted to be able to represent my favorite horror elements in my life. I am drawn towards the macabre and I attempted to show this interest in my piece. I took inspiration from horror movies to be honest. The choppy but clean look is what I was trying to achieve, and I believe that I did. In this project, I began working with materials I never thought I would work with. For example, floral foam. While it was difficult to carve, with enough patience, I was able to find a bat in that block of foam.
