This piece was single handedly inspired by my close friend Shaylah. Her phobia of spiders was shown to me a couple days before when she was at my house. A spider crawled in through my window and she bolted out of my room. After that, I knew I wanted to incorporate a spider into my next piece. My piece is made of 132 cone shaped paper modules. Each module is stacked on top of one another to create texture in the legs. The modules are place differently to accentuate this texture, and to create balance within the piece. The main body is made out of balled up pieces of paper. My goal was to make the body look unimportant, so the focus would be on the legs. In between each leg segment are pieces of wire, making the legs bendy and moveable. My goal with the spider hanging, was to represent a spider lowering using its web, and I believe I was able to portray that bit of movement.
